No, CICH has been incorporated as an independent, charitable non-governmental organization since 1977.
We receive funds from government to do certain things, such as literature and scientific reviews, develop guidelines and recommendations, produce resources and materials for parents and caregivers, and gather information from Canadians, professionals, parents and young people. All our government funding is to accomplish certain tasks.
We
work with a variety of government departments such as Health Canada,
Environment Canada, Human Resources Development Canada, Heritage Canada
and Justice Canada.
We also work with provincial governments, foundations and other funding bodies.
We work with Corporate Canada to do certain activities such as review products and materials and advise on public concerns.
We seek donations from individuals and corporations to develop and implement our program and education activities.
We rely on memberships, both individual and organizational, to expand the promotion of child and youth health, well-being and rights through monitoring, education and advocacy.
Membership fees, which include reduced prices on regular priced CICH publications, special prices at our conferences and workshops, and four editions of the CICH newsletter Child Health are $35.00 for an individual and $85.00 for a group or organization. For more information on CICH membership, contact CICH at cich@cich.ca
